With a proposed residence being planned for a site hundreds of metres into the acreage, a cost effective roadway was required which would meet Australian Standards for pavement strength and grade, but the construction had to be cost effective and utilise natural materials which are sourced from site.
Local sandstone was quarried and used as roadbase, and all earthworks was seeded on a regular basis to prevent sediment erosion. Roadway drainage was formed within an adjacent rock-lined swale to slow water velocities and prevent further erosion.
